Do you have a crafty best friend?
Someone who gets why you do some of the wacky creative things you do?
Someone you can giggle with?
I hope you do because friends like that can make ordinary days so much richer.
I visited my friend Jenny last week on a day when we were both needing a bit of creative fun, a little respite from the “every day”.

It just so happens that she had received a whole slew of lovely Martha Stewart paper, tags, labels, borders, and stickers so we decided to raid her supplies and see what we could come up with for Mother’s Day. Simply because this new “Stitched” line from Martha said “Mother’s Day” to us.
I started off with a plain balsa wood shadow box and painted it with Martha Stewart paints (of course!).
Then I dug into the super cute paper. I love this “Stitched” line and all of it’s vintage charm!
I cut papers to fit the background of each section and adhered them with a tape runner. Easy peasy.
Then because there were so many adorable cupcakes and fruit embellishments I decided to make my little shadowbox all about “CAKE”.

I had to use the strawberries because they are MY favorite food in the whole wide world!
I think this would be super cute with a little black and white photo of mom, or even grandma, in a couple of the squares. And while I’m not going to tell you what Jenny made, because you’ll have to go HERE to see for yourself, I will say that our projects together would make a super adorable gift for mom.
