An Easy to Make Halloween Wreath with Orange Christmas Ornaments

Black Feather Halloween Wreath with Orange Christmas Ornaments

It’s getting to be about that time again. Time to think about Fall, hayrides, leaf piles to jump in, and Halloween. I know it’s a little early but I had so much fun creating this Halloween wreath that I just had to share it with you. NOW!

Orange Christmas ornaments for Halloween Decorations

I’ve been in a few stores lately that have Halloween, Thanksgiving AND Christmas items on display. Which works out well for this Halloween Wreath that uses orange Christmas ornaments.

Unless you think ahead like I did last winter.

These particular ornaments are from an after Christmas sale and I bought them intending to use them for Halloween. They were so deeply discounted that I couldn’t pass them up!

Here is a complete supply list:

  • Extruded Foam Wreath Form
  • Feather Boa – not the skinny marabou, but the fluffy kind. You’ll need 2-3 depending on the size of your foam wreath form.
  • Ornaments, Picks or other embellishments
  • Fern Pins
  • Wire Cutters
  • Ribbon or Bow

Wrap the wreath form with the feather boa securing it in a few places with the fern pin. You’ll want to make sure that the feathers are wound pretty close together so the white wreath doesn’t show through.

Create or purchase a coordinating bow. If you purchase a ready made bow you may have to fluff it up a bit as they always get smashed in the shipping boxes. I have found that a good way to give some bows volume is to use a large barreled curling iron. Just slip it into the loop for a second or two and remove. Be sure to test a small section first to make sure the curling iron won’t melt the fabric.

Place the bow where you like it first. When I design I always place the bow first and the add other elements, including under, around and even inside the loops of the bow.

Cut the stems on the Christmas picks to to 3-4 inches and arrange on top of the feather wreath until you get a placement you like. Using the fern pins secure the bow and all of the ornaments in place.

If you needed another reason to hit the stores after the holidays then I think I just gave you a good excuse. Not that you needed MY help.

Are you a big after the holiday shopper to see what you can find on discount?

What was the best deal you ever found?
