I’ve always said, “I’ll get in the car and drive anywhere as long as I have an atlas.” And I always keep an atlas in my car. Even with a GPS on my phone. It only works when you have phone service or wifi you know. So if you and I are out driving around in the sticks… I’ve got us covered!
Well anyway, I was getting ready to do a book review for CraftTestDummies.com for The Impatient Beader Gets Inspired by Margot Potter and I was feeling just a bit UNexcited about making a project. Not that I didn’t love a whole bunch of the projects in the book but because I didn’t want to copy EXACTLY what was there. You know?
So I was cleaning out my van and found my old, beat up atlas. I just got a new one for Christmas and I knew instantly that I could use the old one for my book review project. SCORE!
So I made these “I’m from Ohio” earrings and I LOVE THEM! I might have to send them to my womanchild who is in Florida for a few months.
I also have a whole bunch of other elements like this made up because I have some other ideas that I’ll post before too long.
OH! And here’s a funny story about my atlas…
One winter when the youngest two boys were in Boy Scouts Warren (my husband) went as a chaperone on one of their camp outs. The snow was deep and wet and everyone was COLD. AND they couldn’t get a fire going.
So my resourceful husband got the atlas out of my van, tore out pages, wadded them up and used them to start a fire.
I was only slightly put out by it… I mean, he did use it to keep my boys warm.
I got an new atlas for Christmas that year. :)

Love these and love you, Ms. O’Dell!
Love ya right back!! :)
