Welcome to another Designer Craft Connection Blog Hop.
I can’t believe that it’s August and time to start thinking of “Back to School”. My children are older and going to 3 different colleges this fall but I remember when they were in middle school and high school and back to school not only meant school but also music lessons.
All of our children play an instrument or two and while we took several weeks off during the summer from lessons we always started them up again when school started. One of the things I did was give each of them a notebook so their instructor could write down their practice homework. That way we would all know just what was expected of them during the week.
Heck, I couldn’t be trusted to remember the assignments for 3 or 4 kids, and a couple of them with multiple instruments, so I had to come up with something!
So if you are going to carry a notebook to music lessons why not make that notebook prettier and more interesting to carry around?
Supplies:
Adhesive – I used rubber cement
Tidbits from doodlebug
Flowers and Lace on a Roll from Michael’s
Aileen’s Tacky Dot Singles

Put rubber cement on the front of the composition notebook and then on the back of the paper. Let dry.
I don’t cut the paper ahead of time, especially when using rubber cement, because it’s too hard to get everything to line up just right. Instead, I put the paper on, larger than the notebook, and then cut away the excess once everything is in place.
Put the paper on the composition cover and smooth it down. Trim away excess paper with a craft knife.
Embellish the composition cover with lace on a roll and other scrapbooking supplies using the Aleene’s tacky dot singles.
It’s fun and easy to get the children involved in this project. Younger ones can help pick out colors and choose where to put things and older children can be given a selection of supplies (depending on their abilities you may have to do the paper covering bit) and turned loose to create their own design.
