Update: Fuseworks Beginner’s Fusing Kit

Fuseworks Beginner’s Fusing Kit

I’m sure you are starting to see that just because I try a product and review it doesn’t mean that I’m finished with it and put it away in a drawer.  I keep playing with it and trying to learn more so I can get better at using it and hopefully, in the process, pass along some of what I learn.

Want to know what I learned about the Fuseworks Microwave Kiln?  Paper!  Yes, the kiln paper you use makes a WORLD of difference.  Who’d a thunk it?

Remember when I reviewed it before?  See how the edges of the glass are kind of sharp looking and irregular in the photo above?  I wondered how on earth people filed that down to make it more wearable.

Then someone told me that they had tried different kiln papers with their Fuseworks and it had made a difference and she even gave me a sample so that I could see for myself.

This is “Bullseye” Brand kiln paper and it gave the best finished product so far.

This also started out as a square/rectangle piece of glass with other pieces of confetti on top of it but when it came out of the microwave the finished piece is ROUND! Ah-ha!

The person I spoke with also said that different microwaves gave her different finishes too.

So if the Fuseworks Microwave Kiln is something you are considering remember that there is a lot of experimentation involved in the process.  That’s not a bad thing but something to keep in mind as you make your purchase.

Hello! I just bought this fusing kit and try to follow instruction to melt glass in my microwave. But now inside of my kiln is black as well as the wall. I think i destroy my kiln. Should i repeat to fuse my glass later or better throw it away and buy another kiln?

      Hi Lena,

My kiln got black in a few places and worked just fine.
      I hope that helps.
