Handmade House Guest Thank You Notes
Here we are… summer. The time for travel -vacation, reunions, trade shows and weekend getaways. If you are traveling this summer it may be that someone has played host and offered you a place to stay during your travels. Because, let’s face it, we’re all on a budget and if we can visit other lands without paying for a hotel room we’re able to travel even more. I don’ t know about you but I love traveling and seeing new people and places. I’m one of those people that just soaks it all in.
Anyway…
The photo above was taken at the Summer CHA show last week where Jenny from Craft Test Dummies hosted her writers for the show. Jenny works really hard to find ways to take care of her writers and this summer it happened to include hotel rooms at CHA. BONUS!
While it’s always a good idea to take a gift along with you as a “Thank You” when you are staying with someone else, it’s also extra nice if you can send a note (hand written, please) letting your host know just how much you appreciated their hospitality.

This is a quick thank you note for you to make with the Mixed Media Sampler in BLUE and just a couple of other supplies. You won’t believe how easy and relaxing this thank you note is to make.
Other Supplies:
Cardstock or a card blank
Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop
Watercolor brush
Blue painters tape
Stamp from Stamper’s Big Brush Pen

Lay the cardstock or card blank on your work surface and then the stencil over top. Tape the stencil and a corner or two of the card to the work surface. Lightly trace around the stencil edges and lightly color in the open spaces with the Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencil.
This is the part that I found to be particularly relaxing.
Keeping the stencil in place use a SLIGHTLY DAMP water color brush to soften the pencil lines. Don’t use too much water because then the color will leak underneath the stencil and cause the paper to warp. Just a damp brush to smooth out the lines and blend the color.

Then I borrowed the stamp from Mixed Media Aquarelle & Ink in blue and the Stamper’s Big Brush Pen to stamp the image three times on the right.
For a personal touch, add a photo from the vacation, event, or trip to the front of the card. You can leave it as is or embellish it further like the one at the top of this post.
Now you can write a note to your host(ess) inside and thank them for their hospitality while sending them a little memento of the fun you had at the same time.
Where are you going this summer?
