Thrifting Thursday - A Book Review: Homespun Style by Selina Lake

You know me and my thrift store obsession, as well as my love of all things handmade and vintage, so it will come as no surprise to you that the SECOND I spied Homespun Style by Selina Lake I had to make it MINE!

From the jacket cover, “If flat-pack furniture and expensive designer pieces aren’t really your thing, and you’d rather make your own cushion cover than buy it, then Homespun Style is for you.”

Yes, ma’am!

The book is broken up into chapters like; elements, modern craft, colour & pattern, spaces, relaxed living etc.

I adore this thread holder from the Creative Spaces chapter as well as the the fabric on some of the doors of the cupboard above.

My front porch is an area we’ve been revamping and it’s kind of beginning to take on a look similar to this room in the Relaxed Living chapter.

Color! Also from Relaxed Living.

The whole 160 pages of Homespun Style is chock full of photos, ideas and inspiration. It’s hard cover and has a resources section in the back. It’s lived on my coffee table ever since it arrived and I pick it up almost daily to have a look at the pages.

How often have you walked by a textile in the thrift store and knew you loved it but wasn’t sure what you might do with it once you got home? You’ll know just what to do with it quickly enough after sitting down with Homespun Style. But don’t get mad at me if you suddenly find yourself pulling all of the vintage textiles out of your closets and making a happy, colorful mess of things.
