Even if you can’t get your hands on an original tinsel wreath I’ll show you how you can make a Vintage Inspired Tinsel Wreath that is brand new but still has a vintage look.
It’ll LOOK old but not SMELL old! Because who wants Christmas decor that smells bad. :)
You’ll need silver tinsel and a 12 inch extruded ring from FloraCraft.
You’ll also need a candle holder. I cut the longer prongs off the candle holder with my Knipex cutters. They aren’t just for wire any more!
And then push the prongs down into the inside of the wreath.
Begin wrapping the tinsel around the wreath. You can hold the tinsel in place with fern pins or a dab of hot glue.
End the tinsel the same way… with a fern pin or a dab of hot glue.
And then wait 25 years or so for the vintage look. Or spray the wreath with Glossy Wood Tone paint from Design Master. Yeah, I like that idea better. :0)
Start with a light spray and then add a little more until you get the look you like. Remember you can always ADD color but you can’t take it away, so spray lightly, let it dry a bit and then spray more if you want more color.
See the difference?
I found these LED battery operated candles from the CWI Collection to use in the wreath. They fit down in the candle holder PERFECTLY! All I have to do is turn the candle half a turn and the light comes on.
Add a vintage looking red velvet bow and you are all finished!
And here is a red tinsel wreath.
I added a Santa bow and two silver floral picks to this one but I didn’t age the tinsel. I liked it the original color.
Super easy, vintage looking and adorable.
