Mixed Media LOVE Block for Valentine’s Day

Mixed Media LOVE Block for Valentine's Day

I decided to try the Wax Coated Roses on more of a mixed media type of craft. I loved the soft vintage look of these pink roses so I decided to get a little vintage with this.

I painted a cube of balsa wood with Folk Art Acrylic Paint in Wicker White. I gave it a few coats and sanded in between.

I gathered up some paper from Fancy Pants Design, the Wishful Thinking line and some bits and pieces of hardware from Darice.

I also used rub ons from DCWV and my good pal Mod Podge.

I put sections of the paper that I especially liked on the block with Mod Podge and once that was all dry I added a few rub ons and some of the metal corner pieces.

I painted four large wood beads with Folk Art paint in Seashell Pink.

I added metal screw-in handles to each side (use an awl to poke a hole through the paper and into the wood block to make screwing in the handle easier) and hot glued the dry beads to the bottom.

Then I arranged the flowers on top of the wood cube and secured them with hot glue.

I added some pink and white check ribbon and some gold wire with pearls. Just to fill in around the roses.

I’m not sure if I’m finished with this piece yet. What do you think? Add more or leave it the way it is?
